Every day, children are born with courageous little hearts that need a chance to keep beating strong. But in developing countries, most children born with congenital heart defects will not survive without surgery. There simply aren’t enough pediatric cardiologists and thoracic surgeons to meet the need.

💖Naomi Carmona-Morshead journey with Mending Kids began in 2009. After decades of avoiding hospitals and heart patients herself, she was deeply moved when 9-year-old María José traveled from Ecuador. She needed life-saving scoliosis surgery, but her enlarged heart had to be repaired first. Both surgeries were a success!  Today, María is not only thriving but has graduated from college! 🎓
